EA Games and Maxis are still not giving any details about whether or not "The Sims 5" will ever be made. However, with the recent official announcement of the "City Living" expansion pack slated for "The Sims 4," the hype for the next iteration of the game has been re-ignited. Most players are already expecting the fifth installment of "The Sims" game to be under development.

According to Game N Guide — should its developers stick to its current pattern of release — "The Sims 5" could realistically get released on 2019. However, the only thing that the upcoming game lacks is an official confirmation, and a lot of fans are worried since the current game has been faltering in terms of sales. As such, it might have affected the plans for the release of "The Sims 5."

A lot of players have expressed disappointment over the expansion packs for "The Sims 4," despite the fact that the added content was sent out in order to serve as a leverage to improve the game's sales. With this, it seems that the official announcement for the fifth game is becoming more unlikely.

It might not be the case, though, as the same article reports that EA and Maxis are unperturbed by the current negative reception for "The Sims 4."

Players are also curious how the developers plan to bounce back from the setback caused by the current game. JBH News reports that the plan is to include virtual reality and augmented reality support in the next "The Sims" game. Of course, that would be pretty ambitious and risky for EA, and it is still unclear how these features can augment its market worth and sales.

After all, "The Sims" has always been played via a third-person view, so it is hard to imagine how this will happen. In any case, time will tell whether or not these rumored features will become a reality.
