Billy Graham assures Christians that God only wants the best careers for them, so they must learn to trust His plan

God's plans don't always make sense to people, but they will always be the best plans they can take in their lives.

This was underscored by world-renowned evangelist Billy Graham when a concerned Christian asked him what he should do as he goes to college since he does not have a clue what to make of his future career.

Writing in his advice column for The Kansas City Star, Graham advised the reader to always seek God's will. "The most important advice I can give you is to seek God's will for your future," he says. "God knows all about you, and he made you into the person you are. He knows your gifts and abilities, and he also knows your limitations. Why not seek his plan for your life?"

Graham says whatever advice he could give this young man would be "worthless" compared to what God has in mind. And because God loves His children, Christians can feel assured of a good future ahead, he adds.

"In other words, He not only knows what is best for you, He also wants you to have what is best for you. God's promise is true: 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.' (Proverbs 3:5-6)," shares Graham.

So how exactly can people know God's will? Graham says it all starts in committing one's life to Jesus Christ. The evangelist says this is the most important step people will ever take in their lives, and once they do so, God will guide them towards the right path and show them His will.

"Make it a matter of prayer every day, and be sensitive to his leading through the advice of others, or opportunities that open up or simply an inner conviction," says Graham. "Remember: All you need to know is the next step, and that may be all God shows you right now. But He can be trusted to show you every other step."
