Billy Graham's Granddaughter Hopes 'Divided' America Can Unite Through God After Elections

Billy Graham's granddaughter Cissie Graham Lynch supported U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump during the elections, and now that he has won, the 30-year-old hopes Christian Americans will be able to get past their political divide and work together for a better future.

"We obviously have a divided country," Lynch said during a Trump rally in Sarasota, Florida, according to USA Today. "Churches have been divided. Families have been divided. As believers in Jesus, we have to unite. We have to come together. There's a lot of healing that has to be done."

Lynch has no doubt Trump would do well in the White House, especially since he has surrounded himself with godly counsel. During the campaign season, Trump even had a close-door meeting with 900 evangelicals, including Lynch's father Franklin Graham, in New York City.

Lynch is praying for Trump's administration the same way she prayed for his predecessor, outgoing President Barack Obama. She hopes everybody else would follow suit because America needs prayers more than ever, and the selection of Supreme Court justices has reached a crucial point.

Some evangelicals might still doubt Trump's faith and credibility, but Lynch said God has used the most surprising people in the Old Testament to carry out His will.

"As you read in the Old Testament, there are many examples of times God used wicked leaders to help advance His people," she earlier wrote on her blog. "Pharaoh, Xerxes, Solomon, Nebuchadnezzar... just to name a few."

"God also used godly men and women who gained enough respect from their leaders for the good of the Kingdom: Joseph, Esther, and Daniel all found favour in the leaders they served as they led others in God's will," she continued. "Each leader was willing to listen to God's people and to serve Him."
