Planning a vacation is not the way it used to be for Christian country singer Carrie Underwood now that she's a mother. Back then, Underwood is free to pick places that are fun and adventurous. But now, she has a lot more things to consider.

"Now it's so important for me to find things that are family friendly," Underwood, 32, told PEOPLE. "I never really had to think about that until having a child. Before, (my husband) Mike (Fisher) and I would go wherever we wanted to go, and we never really gave it a second thought. But now, I'm like, 'Well, does this hotel have what we'll need for kids? Is it the right place to take him?'"

Underwood admitted that vacations now are "planned out more" because they have to think whether or not their destination will keep Isaiah Michael entertained and safe at the same time.

"I'm like, 'Okay, where are we going to go? What are we going to do when we're there?' It's a lot different. Everything now has to be family friendly," she added.

Underwood acknowledged that each family has their own considerations when planning a vacation, but she is certain that they all have the same desired outcome. "Sure, we all have different jobs and lives and amounts of kids, and all that stuff," she said. "But really, at the end of the day, we're all moms and dads and families."

She also revealed that she has never gone on a cruise before, but it's something that she is planning to go on one soon. When asked what she plans to do on the cruise, the singer laughingly answered, "Hopefully not much!"

"I really enjoy lying by water. Oh, and dinners. Yes, having nice dinners. I'm not much of a doer when I'm on vacation. I like to relax," she shared.
