Christian charity World Emergency Relief (WER) has been voted a 'Top Rated' charity by watchdog organisation Intelligent Giving.
WER was notified of its 'Top Rated' status after in-depth analysis of its annual reports and accounts by the watchdog organisation, which revealed WER to be one of the most open and transparent charities in the country.
In its website report, Intelligent Giving commends WER for its "excellent performance" in the quality of financial reporting and the feedback available to supporters on how their donations are being spent.
The report praised WER's "impressive annual report [which] provides good details of future plans and hints at an increasingly well-run outfit".
"Spending donations honestly is an absolute value of the charity," says Alex Haxton, WER's director of operations. "It's only thanks to our generous supporters that WER is able to continue its work with children living in poverty around the world.
"We hope this recognition of our transparency will encourage people channel their donations through us."
WER is a non-denominational Christian charity which works with local partners to respond to emergencies big and small, sudden and ongoing, to relieve the suffering of children and their communities in developing countries. At least 94p of every pound donated is spent on helping those in need.
Intelligent Giving's Top Rated status is only given to charities that receive a 'quality of reporting' score of 75 per cent or more in its in-depth analysis of annual reports. Scoring this highly indicates that a charity is one of the most transparent in the country.
In recognition of this status, WER is now able to use Intelligent Giving's 'Top Rated' icon on its website, highlighting its excellent performance and linking through to the watchdog's profile of its work.
