CM Punk WWE rumors: Heyman's pitch could have saved CM Punk from leaving

Paul Heyman has been known to think of good things that have worked in the WWE and now he shares a scenario which would have averted CM Punk's exit.

Speaking at a Chael Sonnen's You're Welcome podcast, Heyman bares how he pitched to the WWE prior to Wrestlemania 29 the idea of Punk ending the Undertaker's winning streak. Why? At that time, Punk was pretty much unhappy and such would have been a way to keep the disgruntled wrestler.

Of course there was no guarantee that a victory over the Deadman would avert Punk's impending exit, such would have been a highlight close to winning a WWE title.

As everyone knows, Punk left as expected, unhappy and with lots of issues unsettled with the WWE in 2014. Punk (Phil Brooks) is not busy preparing for his UFC debut, joining the rival company after his unceremonious exit.

As far as the streak is concerned, everyone knows that it was Brock Lesnar who snapped the undefeated winning streak of the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30, something that Vince McMahon says was the only star on the roster worthy to hand the Dead Man (Mark Calloway) a justified loss at the WWE's annual grand stage.

Hence, it may in all explain why Punk wouldn't have been a wise choice to defeat the Undertaker especially if the main reason was to try and make him happy. Had he won, the chances of him staying would perhaps not be great anyway.

Punk, to his credit, did hold on to the WWE heavyweight title for 434 days and was only put to a halt when Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson ended all that. But as far as changing his mind and staying on, Heyman's pitch would have worked but was not a permanent decision.

It would have delayed his departure but not resolve in its entirety the fact that Punk had issues against the WWE and ending the Undertaker's streak was something that would definitely not resolve it.
