Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode 'Day of the Doctor' pre-show to air online on BBC America

The highly anticipated Doctor Who's 50<sup>th Anniversary special 'The Day of the Doctor' will be airing worldwide on Nov. 23, 2013.

The Day of the Doctor special will be simulcast via live stream in over 75 countries across the world at 7:50 pm GMT. (Check local times for your time zone here.)

For the U.S., the special episode will air on BBC America at 2:50pm ET/ 1:50pm CT/ 12:50pm MT/ 11:50am PT. It will also be premiering in AMC, Century Theatres, Cinemark and Regal cinemas for 2D and 3D viewing. (Check local TV and Cinema listings at BBC's Doctor Who website.)

Prior to the worldwide simulcast of the cult show, BBC America will be launching a live pre-show event in partnership with Legendary Entertainment's Nerdist Industries from YouTube Space LA.

The pre-show will air worldwide at 2:30 pm ET and will be available to watch online on Youtube.

Following the pre-show will be the airing of 'Day of the Doctor.'

After the showing of the 50<sup>th anniversary special, a special post-show event is also scheduled to take place at 4pm ET. Again, BBC America will be streaming the event live on Youtube.

The Day of the Doctor is written by Steven Moffat and is a special episode that has been described as a "love letter to fans" by producer Marcus Wilson.

The Daleks will be returning for the special, along with past Doctor Who stars David Tennant, Billie Piper, Rose Tyler, Jemma Redgrave and more.

BBC's official synopsis of the special 50<sup>th anniversary feature is as follows:

"The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th anniversary special. In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London's National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor's own dangerous past comes back to haunt him."
