Is Drake's follow-up to 2013's "Nothing Was the Same" coming very soon?

The Canadian recording artist and actor told his fans during his sold out New Year's Eve show at the E11EVEN club in Miami, Florida that his upcoming album "Views from the 6" will be released in the coming days.

Earlier rumors about the release date of Drake's upcoming album speculated that the record will be released on Wednesday, Jan. 6, based on a teaser video posted on the Daily Rap's Twitter account. But fans are claiming that the album will reach the shelves on Jan. 16, based on the rapper's cryptic Instagram posts where he captioned a series of photos with the number 16.

In their Twitter accounts, fans expressed their speculations about the meaning of the number 16.

However, Drake did not confirm any of the rumors. This means that the release date of "ViewsfFrom the 6" is still unknown at the moment.

Back in November 2015, Drake caused a stir when he surprised his fans by uploading on Vine a six-second teaser of one of his upcoming songs. The rapper also dropped several tracks without fanfare like "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" mixtape in February, which reached the platinum status on iTunes.

The rapper also released another surprised mixtape titled "What a Time to Be Alive," on which he collaborated with Atlanta-based rapper Future, in September 2015. It reached the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 during its debut and sold 334,000 copies during the first week of its release.

Other rumors about the soon-to-be-released album claimed that the 29-year-old recording star worked with several high profile stars, including Beyoncé, Tinashe, as well as Will Smith's daughter Willow Smith.

There are also talks saying that Drake's new record was inspired by his ongoing hostility with rapper Meek Mill.

At the moment, the songs "Hotline Bling" and "Right Hand" have been confirmed parts of Drake's upcoming album.
