'Fallout 4' news: Bethesda reveals new details for upcoming game

Fallout 4 Bethesda Softworks

During the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 last month, developer Bethesda came out with a big surprise for its fans, announcing big-name releases such as a new "Doom" and the sequel to the sci-fi first-person RPG, "Dishonored." However, the biggest news was about what fans have already been whispering about since last year – the confirmation of "Fallout 4."  This week at this year's Quakecon event, Bethesda has added to the hype by providing other details about the upcoming game.

The reveal, as reported by IGN, confirmed that the dog seen in the official trailer is named Dog Meat, and the player will encounter the canine early in the game, when the player first leaves the Vault. Once added as a companion, Dog Meat can then be sent outside to explore, and can also be commanded to go inside buildings to look for loot. Dog Meat is an independent companion so there will be no need for the player to accompany the dog on his explorations.

Aside from Dog Meat, there are also other companions that the player can meet in the course of the "Fallout 4" story. Two of the confirmed companions are Piper, which the player can meet in the settlement among the rubble of Fenway Park, near Diamond City; and Preston Garvey, head of the Commonwealth Minutemen faction.

Reprising his role as the player's personal assistant is Mr. Handy. The robot assistant's inclusion to the fourth installment will make the automaton one of the mainstays of the franchise, since it was also confirmed that Mr. Handy will be present in the major update version for the mobile title "Fallout Shelter."

Players will be given a chance to develop a relationship with their human companions, regardless of gender. However, there is also an option of completing the game single-handedly, without partnering with an NPC.

"Fallout 4" will be released on Nov. 10 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
