'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' sequel: Will the gang be part of Civil War?

Recent reports for "Captain America 3" say that the major plot for the movie will follow the "Civil War" story in the comic book. While the members of The Avengers may all be affected by the Civil War, will it play out the same for the characters of "Guardians of the Galaxy?"

In a recent interview with Variety, Robert Downey Jr. hinted that he could be a part of "Captain America 3" since Iron Man is an essential part of the "Civil War" storyline. Iron Man and Captain America will be on opposing sides, with Tony Stark agreeing to the superhero act proposed by the government and Captain Rogers disagreeing and refusing to follow it.

Given that this may be the storyline to be followed in "Captain America 3," it would just be fitting to see parts of the plot trickle down to "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" and, of course, to the rumored two-split movie, "The Avengers 3."

So, does the Civil War have something to do with "Guardians of the Galaxy 2"? According to Cinema Blend, "it probably doesn't." The Guardians, well, will be too busy protecting the galaxy to get involved with Earth business.

GotG Director James Gunn also shared that he's been busy working on the script for the sequel of the blockbuster movie, but he never mentioned a thing about the movie's relation with the "The Avengers" or "Captain America."  To be particular, Gunn told Film Divider about what he's been doing so far.

"I have a lot of ideas for stories and characters that are going to appear, and there are documents written up, that some people have, about Peter Quill's father and his relationship, a lot of stuff about Yondu, and a lot of stuff about Drax that nobody knows," he said.

He also said, "I wrote up a lot. [Kevin Feige] knows all the stuff, and if I died tomorrow they could go make a movie. They could write the story of Peter Quill's father and it would all be there. I think Yondu is a very important character, a really important character in this universe, and I think Nebula is really important too and so I think we'll see more of both of those characters."

So it figures, Gunn is busy with Quill, Yondu and Nebula and there's no talk about anything else so far. In "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," the gang will be busy in space adventures rather than on Earth's Civil War.
