"High School Musical" sweethearts Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriela Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) are rumored to have a wedding in the installment's upcoming movie. A new set of characters will also enter the show, signaling a new era of musical teens from East High.

Disney Channel has confirmed that "High School Musical 4" is happening. Although no definite date is set for its release, a storyline has long been created for the upcoming movie. The Wildcats' rival will be introduced into the movie, who are known as the West High Knights.

Disney Channel President Gary Marsh said, "High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA. It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we're excited to announce 'the start of something new' as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the 'High School Musical' franchise."

According to E! Online, "High School Musical 4" will be featuring five new leads – a soccer player, a bad boy dancer, a jock/theater nerd, a cheerleader, and a fallen queen bee – who will star in the movie. The jock/theater nerd is named Campbell, and happens to be Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) and Ryan Evans' (Lucas Gabreel) cousin.

There will be a brewing love triangle in "High School Musical 4" among the five new leads, which could be one of the central conflicts in the movie.
