'Homeland' season 5 spoilers: Saul learns the truth about Allison in episode 9
Saul Berenson's (Mandy Patinkin) heart will break in the next episode of "Homeland" season 5.
In the teaser for the upcoming episode titled "The Litvinov Ruse," Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) will tell Saul the bitter truth about Allison Carr's (Miranda Otto) real intentions. She also says that Allison wants her dead so that she will not blow her cover as a double agent for the Russians. But by the looks of it, the CIA European division chief will have a hard time accepting the fact that the woman that he is currently dating is a spy.
In the previous episode, viewers discovered that Allison was offered love and $8 million stolen from the Ministry of Justice by an Iraqi lawyer named Ahmed Nazari (Darwin Shaw) during the time when she was being replaced by Carrie in her post in Baghdad. He also told her that they could run away with the money to live a new life in Saint Lucia.
But after she agreed to Ahmed's proposal, she discovered that everything was a lie, and Ahmed was used by the Russians to make her commit to a federal crime. To avoid imprisonment, Allison agreed to become a double agent for the SVR. In turn, the Russian intelligence organization gave her half of Ahmed's stolen money as well as several pertinent information that will help her get a higher rank in the CIA.
Carrie found out about it, which is why she will tell the truth to Saul before things get out of hand. Based on the brief synopsis posted on Showtime's website, the CIA will work with the German Federal Intelligence Service BND for a new operation. Does it have something to do with the new information about Allison?
Quinn's life will also be in danger in the hands of his Syrian kidnappers in the upcoming episode, which will air on Showtime on Sunday, Nov. 29.
