HTC One 2 (M8) vs Samsung Galaxy S5: Specs comparison
The all new HTC One 2 (M8) will be released on March 25, a month after the launch of Samsung's flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone.
The company tweeted the date on Feb. 24 with an image with the text: "Hope they're ready to be One-upped. See it. Hear it. Feel it. March 25"
HTC also hinted to buyers that they should wait for the new HTC One 2 before jumping to purchase the Galaxy S5. Another tweeted posted Feb. 24 reads: "Buyer's remorse: Coming soon to S5 owners."
Meanwhile the, Taiwan-based company has won the award for Best Smartphone of 2014 for its original HTC One smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The news was tweeted to its fans, along with a photo of HTC executives collecting the award.
The all new HTC One 2 (M8) is slated to pack a bigger display than its popular predecessor's 4.7 inch screen. The new smartphone is rumored to come with a 5.1 inch screen and an improved ultrapixel camera. The HTC M8 may also be the first smartphone to remove the physical button from its smartphone and feature an onscreen button instead.
The M8 is slated to pack a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB RAM, LTE connectivity, 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash and of course BoomSound.
How does the HTC One 2 (M8) rumored specs compare to the actual Samsung Galaxy S5 specs?
The Samsung Galaxy S5 was finally unveiled at the WMC this week. It has the traditional Samsung Galaxy design and its backcover has been changed with a perforated design.
The Galaxy S5 features a 5.1 inch super AMOLED HD display, 2800 mAh battery, 2.5 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, and runs on Android 4.4.2. Its 16 megapixel camera with LED flash comes with a faster AF at just 0.3 seconds, improved HDR to enrich the tone, and selective focus options.
New features include a heart rate sensor, which is placed at the back. The Galaxy S5 is also water and dirt resistant and a finger scanner has been added to the home button of the device. The finger scanner will unlock mobile payment and also turn the phone into a private mode, to keep personal information and files secure.
It will be available in blue, black, gold and white, depending on the market. Black and white models are expected for the U.S.
The Galaxy S5 price has not been announced by Samsung, but the new smartphones are scheduled to hit shelves in April. In the UK, the device will be offered at £600 SIM free.
