iPad Air 3 specs: Release date, price speculations circulate online

 CNET

Rumors have been circulating about iPad Air 3 release date, saying that it could be launched next year.

Chinese website MyDrivers say that Apple will be holding off the release of the iPad Air until the end of this year, but most probably early next year.

According to Chinese publication Economic Daily News, Fubon Hardware investment advisor Liaoxian Li said that the production of the new iPad Air will stop until 2016 to give way for the release of the iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4.

MyDrivers say that the wait could just be well worth it given the specs of the upcoming iPad Air 3. The new Apple device is rumored to have a 9.7-inch display with a 4K resolution of 3112 x 2334 at 401 pixels per inch (ppi). It also says that the iPad Air 3 will run on Apple's latest A9 or A9X chipset, with a memory capacity of 2 GB or 4 GB.

The same site also say that the upcoming five millimeters thick iPad Air 3 will feature an 8-megapixel camera at the back and a 2.1-megapixel camera in front. The only downside is, iPad Air 3 will see a reduction in its battery capacity from the 7,340 mAh cell on the iPad Air 2. These reports, however, remain unconfirmed.

ITPro reports that the price for the Apple iPad Air 3 would likely be around £399, despite news reports that Apple is cutting down costs of its devices. The site also suggests that Apple should focus on releasing a 32 GB Apple iPad Air 3 rather than a 16 GB base model, stating that it is practical given that the new operating system and apps are adding to the storage weight without chances of minimizing.

Alphr proposes another reason for Apple's postponement of the iPad Air 3, which it said could be based on how the iPad Pro and iPad mini 4 perform. Apple's latest quarterly reports indicate that there has been a 19% decline in iPad sales, a reason why Alphr suggests that Apple is diverting its focus.
