An insider says Google is in talks with several Asian fingerprint sensor suppliers for Nexus 6, according to reports.

The insider spoke to Android Geeks and reportedly hinted that the fingerprint scanner would be on a par with Apple's Touch ID sensor. 

They also confirmed that Google will continue to work with LG on the successor to the Nexus 5 and base it on the LG G3.  There had been speculation previously that Google would build the next Nexus handset with HTC.

It's not clear at this stage what kind of impact the incorporation of a fingerprint scanner will have on the design of the Nexus 6.

Google may choose to go for a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner like the HTC One Max, but the likelihood is that it will follow the iPhone 5S and the Samsung Galaxy S5 in putting it just below the screen.

It may also mean that Google shaves a couple of millimetres off the length of the screen to fit it in.  The general consensus so far is that the screen will be around the 5.2-inch mark.

Twitter leaker @evleaks recently leaked photos of the LG Isai FL, an LG device released exclusively to the Japanese market that it's rumored the LG G3 will be based on. 

The images pointed to slimmer bezels, a 6-inch screen and rear-mounted volume controls. 

GSMArena also recently reported on a leaked photo purportedly showing the LG G3 with volume controls and an unidentified sensor on the rear of the device. 

As the expectation is that the Nexus 6 will in turn be based on the LG G3, the leaks give us our best indication of what the device will look like. 

The Nexus 6 is expected to release in late autumn and the rumors so far are that it will feature an 805 Snapdragon processor, 3GB of RAM, and a display resolution of 2560x1440.

It's not clear whether it will run with Android 4.4 or 4.5 or whether Google will follow the October release pattern of previous Nexus devices.
