One Million Moms fumes over lesbian kissing scene in 'Once Upon A Time'

The Christian watch group One Million Moms is upset over last Sunday's episode of "Once Upon A Time" entitled "Ruby Slippers" because it featured a lesbian couple glorifying in "true love's kiss."

The group believes that the lesbian relationship was "completely unnecessary," even though producers claimed that including homosexuality in the show for kids was "important."

"Many families watch the program based on beloved children's fairytales, but unfortunately, ABC has distorted and twisted the storylines in these fables," the group writes on its website.

The lesbian couple featured was Ruby from "Little Red Riding Hood" and Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz." After Dorothy was given a sleeping curse, it was up to Ruby to give her "true love's kiss" in order to save her. Once Dorothy woke up, the two ladies engaged in a full make-out session while the Munchkins from Oz looked on.

"'Once Upon a Time' is a far from innocent fairytale entangling favorite Disney characters in a new, modern storyline. When it debuted in 2011, it was called 'the most family-friendly drama on any broadcast network in the past 10 years,'" One Million Moms says.

The show was even rated by Common Sense Media as acceptable viewing for children 12 and up, and this is why it was given the "family-friendly" time slot of 8 p.m. every Sunday. However, One Million Moms now believes that the show is "purposefully pushing a gay agenda."

Co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly that the episode "Ruby Slippers" was "just another example of how in a fairy tale, as in life, love is love."

"Our goal is to make it as we see it in the real world, just as normal and as a part of every day life as it should be," Horowitz said.

But One Million Moms believes that television shows such as "Once Upon A Time" continue to over-represent homosexuality because producers want people, especially children, to think that homosexuality is a normal part of everyday life.
