Orange is the New Black season 2 midway through filming: Schedule indicates early 2014 release date
Orange is the New Black season 2 production is currently underway, with the premiere release date slated for a 2014 launch.
The cast and crew continue to film the popular Netflix series, which is mid-way through completion. The filming schedule indicates that the show's second season will be released some time in early to mid 2014.
The second series is set to focus more on other characters other than Taylor Schilling's Piper Chapman.
Samira Wiley recently sat down with ScreenCrush and dished about the new season.
"In season 2, we're gonna get deeper, we're gonna know who these ladies are on a deeper level, even if we don't get to how each got in prison. We'll see so much more of them, who they are, and what their morals are, what their alliances are. I think season 2 is going to be so much better than season 1."
According to rumors, Laura Prepon's Alex Vause character is set to depart from the series, but new cast members are also set to join the show.
Among the new faces is actress Deirdre Lovejoy who will be joining the show as prison therapist Chris Maser. She tweeted a picture of herself with Taylor Schilling with the caption, "Here's a sweet pic of us! GR8 meeting u todayxxx".
Along with OITNB, fans await the season 2 premiere of House of Cards as well. The filming for the second series recently wrapped up, and although the release date for the new season is yet to be announced, talks for a third season are already taking place.
According to Deadline, Netflix's Ted Sarandos said: "Our intent is that the show keep going for sure. It was a 26-episode commitment. It was not our intent that it just run for two seasons."
