Android Marshmallow release date coming for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 news

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Android Developers Blog

Google has not yet officially revealed when Android 6.0 Marshmallow would be released out to the public, although it is heavily implied it will release alongside their flagship phones the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. According to a report from SamMobile, Samsung will also be releasing Android 6.0 Marshmallow for some of its flagship devices before the end of the year.

The report cites that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are currently lined up to receive a major update.

It is also explained that it is possible that the update may simply be a stability update for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It is, however, more likely that these devices will be able to receive their Android 6.0 upgrade. All of these devices are already running on Android 5.1.1 and it would only be logical for them to be given the Android 6.0 update at this point.

According to SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is also going to get the Android 6.0 update, although there are no indications when it will receive the update.

It is more than likely that the Samsung devices will be able to upgrade to Android 6.0 almost immediately after Google releases their two flagship Nexus phones with Android 6.0 Marshmallow installed with them. As such, it is likely that there will be a period where only the Nexus phones will run on Android 6.0 before it becomes available for other devices.

Android Central has revealed that AT&T has also released a massive 660 MB update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, which would put them up to date with the Note 5. Also included in the update is Samsung Pay. However, it is unlikely that this update is what SamMobile was referring to as the update is not for all of the devices SamMobile listed.
