There is this never-ending battle between smartphone flagships that aims to determine which handset rules the ground. During the release of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and its Edge counterpart, many believe it already owns the throne. 

However, LG fans think that the tech community has seen nothing yet, not until the LG G4 arrives and takes over. The flagship may not be out yet but its maker is proudly showing it off piece by piece. And truth be told, the LG G4 looks and sounds impressive. So how will these two fare? 

As far as design goes, breakthrough-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S6 impresses. No more plastic for a body as it parades a shell made of glass and aluminum alloy. Its smooth matte finish is a departure from the not-so-tasteful unadorned plastic design. Needless to say, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is a stunner with its refined curved rim. The LG G4, on the other hand, will be going for a sapphire glass exterior, which is expected to look sleek and smooth.

LG's offering is bigger than its rival with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display. Samsung's comes at 5.1 inches. Both render the same pixel resolution — 1440 x 2560. However, the S6 comes off as the sharper one with a pixel density of 577 ppi, which wins over the G4's 534 ppi. 

Under the hood, LG is rumored to utilize an in-house processor called Nuclun that allows the G4 to run, theoretically, at 300 mbps. However, some reports say that it will draw its power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. Meanwhile, Samsung has made use of its own Exynos chipset for the Galaxy S6, shying away from outsourcing the hardware for the flagship and its future offerings. 

The S6 has no card slot but it has models with 32, 64 and 128 GB memory, which are all backed up with 3 GB RAM. The LG G4 is expected to come in 32 GB only but this can be expanded up to 128 GB with a memory card. 

These handsets' imaging capabilities is where it all gets rough. The Samsung Galaxy S6 was poised to have the best camera around for its ultra-bright f/1.9 lens. But a recent teaser video challenges this as the LG G4 is shown off with f/1.8 lens that makes the night sky picture perfect, making it look so much brighter and detailed. This is LG's promise to users on taking better pictures in the dark. 

For those who are buying a new phone for camera alone, these two are the best choices and they will, of course, make it difficult for one to decide. Both have 16-megapixel shooters at the back, but the LG G4 upped it a bit on the front with a camera set at 8 megapixels. The S6's front snapper is at 5 megapixels.

Other features include a stylus pen for LG G4 and a fingerprint sensor for the Samsung Galaxy S6. In terms of battery life, there is still no word about what's in LG G4's package but the Galaxy S6 has a 2550 mAh battery. 

When it comes to pricing, that's around 700 euro for the Samsung flagship. The LG G4 is expected to come out on April 28 with a 500 euro price tag.
