Scandal season 4 premiere, start date: ABC likely to announce renewed show in May

ABC's "Scandal" season 3 finale aired Thursday, April 17.

The show ended in multiple cliff-hangers, leaving many viewers wondering when "Scandal" season 4 will be premiering.

Although ABC has not yet announced the renewal of the hit series, judging by the popularity of the show, an official announcement of the renewal is expected in May, when ABC announces its list of renewed shows. The start date will likely be in 2015.

Creator Shonda Rhimes also hinted that future seasons are expected for the show. She tweeted to fans, "Nobody should be worried. ABC has not done its pickups yet for next season. They always do them in like, early May...But um...clearly, you can assume good news."

The third season of "Scandal" was cut short to just 18 episodes due to Kerry Washington's real-life pregnancy. Filming for the fourth series will likely resume after the actress gives birth later this year.

The season 3 finale of Scandal aired Thursday, April 17. If you missed the finale episode, be sure to watch past episodes online via live stream on ABC GO.
