'Super Smash Bros. 4' character roster: Shantae to be added?
Aside from balancing character stats in Nintendo's battle royale brawler "Super Smash Bros. 4", the recent patch roll-out also updated the title's character roster. Although the new patch only added a character or two, it also updated a number of character's costumes such as the Mii-class specific alternate gears for K.K. Slider, Chrom, and others.
Meanwhile, adding the recent characters to the fighter roster brought up the number of fighters for "Super Smash Bros. 4" to 55, with popular Nintendo characters interspersed with other, non-proprietary characters from non-Nintendo titles. The game currently has 55 fighters, and four of them were added via DLC expansions. These four were Mewtwo from the hugely popular "Pokemon" franchise, Lucas from "Mother 3", Roy from "Fire Emblem: The Binding Blades", and the most recent addition, Ryu of "Street Fighter".
Recent speculations suggest that in another round of DLC expansion, other characters will be added to the "Super Smash Bros. 4" roster. According to rumors, one of the characters that would make it to the next batch of "Super Smash Bros. 4" is half-genie Shantae. The protagonist of the self-titled series is rumored to be the upcoming fifth downloadable character for the game.
Some fans have noted that Cristina Valenzuela, the voice actress for Shantae, was included on the IMBD list of voice actors who are part of "Super Smash Bros. 4".
Although the rumor is still unconfirmed, "Shantae" creators and developer WayForward is not closing its doors on a collaboration with Nintendo's brawler title. In his tweet earlier this year, Matt Bozon of WayForward expressed the company's interest in having Shantae be a part of "Super Smash Bros. 4".
In the meantime, fans are still expecting the result of the character ballot that Nintendo asked fans to fill out earlier this year, with the top characters to be included in the next fighter add-ons for "Super Smash Bros. 4".
