Black Friday, unlike the past years, is starting rather earlier and happening even longer as it is beginning to somehow merge with Thanksgiving Day. Despite the trend, many companies still believe that sharing the turkey with loved ones is more ideal and not to mention idyllic than lining up outside malls haggling and hurdling for good hitches. These titanic corporations feel that business duties and sales stress can just be paused on Nov. 27 and resumed on Black Friday instead.

The list of merchants who will close their doors on Thanksgiving Day is long and TJX Companies is one.

"All of our T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, and Sierra Trading Post stores will be closed on Thanksgiving and are scheduled to open on Friday morning, Nov. 28th. We consider ourselves an associate-friendly company, and we are pleased to give our associates the time to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends," a company spokesman said via Toledo Blade.

Costco and all its associates also like their turkey more. It has always been closed on Thanksgiving Day and it finds no reason to change that this year.

"It's an important holiday in the U.S., and our employees work hard during the holiday season, and we believe they deserve the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving Day with their family and friends," Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Costco Wholesale Richard Galanti told The New York Times.

Home Depot promises to be there on Black Friday but on turkey day, the company wants everyone to "take time to enjoy food, family and friends." Dillard's also shares the same outlook, as its spokesperson Julie Bull says they "feel very strongly about giving that time" to their employees. Nordstrom, on the other hand, simply likes "the idea of celebrating one holiday at a time." Patagonia just acknowledges that "it's a holiday," exclaiming "we're closed!"

According to USA Today and Toledo Blade, companies namely Ace Hardware, Barnes & Noble, Crate and Barrel, Neiman Marcus, GameStop, Bed Bath & Beyond, Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts, Burlington Coat Factory, Sur La Table, BJ's Wholesale, Sam's Club, DSW and REI will follow the abovementioned stores' footsteps, all yearning that their associates and their customers get to enjoy the celebration with their loved ones.

On the other hand, some stores decided to hop into the shopping galore early. Walmart will be jumpstarting the holiday rush by 6 p.m. on Nov. 27, stretching its Black Friday shopping feast to a whole week. Macy's, Kohl and Sears will also open doors on Thanksgiving Day by 6 p.m. Staples will, too, but it will only be up to 10 p.m. J.C. Penney and Toys "R" Us will be opening by 5 p.m on the special day while Kmart will open its doors by 6 a.m., imploring shoppers to embrace the first light of Thanksgiving Day with rollbacks.
