Sheldon (Jim Parson) tried to mask his despair over his unexpected breakup with Amy (Mayim Bialik) at the end of season 8, but it seems like his walls will crash in the next episode of "The Big Bang Theory" season 9.

Based on the synopsis for the episode titled "The 2003 Approximation," Sheldon's strong façade could probably break down after his long-time roommate Leonard (Johnny Galacki) announces that he will move in with his wife Penny (Kaley Cuoco).

According to the synopsis, "Sheldon learns of an impending change in his living arrangements and decides to revert back to 2003, a simpler time before he met Leonard and Penny. Also, Howard and Raj form a band to play at the Comic Book Store."

Even if he never admitted it, Sheldon was very devastated when Amy decided to break up with him. But the possibility of living alone in the Pasadena apartment that he shared with Leonard for the longest time terrifies him. Which is why he could possibly return to the neurotic version of himself back in 2003.

Is it really the end for Sheldon and Amy?

In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, series showrunner Steve Molaro revealed that nothing is final between the two.

"I don't know exactly what's going to happen but he's clearly fond of her. I don't think they're done speaking by any means. He's so fond of her — something is going to happen between them, I'm sure," the series showrunner claimed.

While Sheldon is wallowing in heartache, Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) will be preoccupied with their intention to form a band that will perform at the Comic Book Store. Based on the promo trailer for the episode, the duo's original songs will be inspired with some of the most unusual musical influences, including Thor and Indiana Jones. But the end result seems interesting since they produced the nerdiest rock opera sound in the world.

But will their listeners enjoy their kind of music?

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode 4 airs on Monday, Oct. 12, on CBS.
