Tim Tebow reacts to Russell Wilson and Ciara's vow of celibacy, wishes them luck
Football star Russell Wilson and his girlfriend Ciara made the news when they both decided to take a vow of celibacy and make themselves pure for marriage. People had conflicting views about their arrangement, but for fellow Christian football star Tim Tebow, he hopes the couple will succeed.
When Tebow was spotted at the airport by celebrity news website TMZ on Monday, the camera guy first talked to him about the Olympics and asked him if Tebow would be interested to participate since he's in great shape.
"I love the Olympics, it's always been fun for me to watch, but I don't know. I'd have to think about it," Tebow answered with a smile.
Not wanting to end the conversation, the reporter then asked Tebow: "You're an advocate for saving yourself until marriage. I wanted to know if you have any advice for Russell Wilson? You know he's dating Ciara, and he's getting a lot of criticism saying that it's hurting his career. But you know, they're saving themselves and they're not doing it to help their performance. Any advice for how they can push through all of the criticism, the haters and stuff?
Tebow reflected for a couple of seconds before replying, "I just wish both of them and everybody all the luck, and God bless man."
The former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback actually made the same decision as Wilson in 2009 during the SEC Media Day press conference. Tebow, who was only 21 years old then, was asked if he was indeed saving himself for marriage.
"Yes, I am," Tebow confirmed. "I think you're stunned right now. You can't even ask a question. ... I was ready for that question, but I don't think y'all were."
