The upcoming "Warcraft" movie could be the first of a trilogy, as the film's director Duncan Jones has indicated that he would like to do more sequels to the film after the first one comes out.

In an interview with 2p, Jones expressed his desire to follow in Peter Jackson's footsteps in creating a fantasy trilogy and now focuses on establishing the characters, places and cultures in the film that will set up a larger storyline for the movie.

"Hopefully, if I have done my job right, people will want to know and see more!" Jones said in the interview. "There is certainly plenty more to tell! I would love to be part of that process of expanding on the lore that makes up Warcraft, but it will all depend on what you, the audience, think of our first film!"

The "Warcraft" movie is based on the video game of the same name that has grown in popularity over the 20 years that it has existed.

The "Warcraft" game was developed by Blizzard, and has become a staple game for many gamers worldwide. Metacritic gives the game a score of 93 percent based on 57 critic reviews and a user rating of 7.2 out of 10 based on 2,012 user ratings.

The plot of the film adaptation of the game centers around the Frostwolf orcs and their conflict with the Shadow Council. The movie brings in some original characters of the game including Khadgar, Anduin, Durotan, and Garona, though the story isn't necessarily tied up with the video game version.

According to Fan Sided, the movie has been pushed back three months to June 10, 2016. The film was originally slated for a December 2015 release, but was pushed back to March 2016 to avoid competing with the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opening. The release date was then moved once more to June to set the release date on the first month of summer, and possibly also to stay clear of Warner Bros. "Batman vs. Superman."
