The Xbox Scorpio is going to be the most powerful iteration of the Xbox One, and it is said that it is going to be more powerful than the PS4 Pro, the upcoming high-end iteration of the PS4. Xbox chief executive Phil Spencer also confirms that there won't be a successor every two years or so and that the Xbox Scorpio will be VR capable, although this won't be its main draw.

Speaking to Game Informer, it was reiterated that the Xbox Scorpio is launching during the holiday season of 2017, although a more specific release date is yet to be announced. Given that the PS4 Pro is rolling out this Nov. 10, it is possible that the Xbox Scorpio will launch around Thanksgiving next year or in early December.

When it does launch, Spencer reassures gamers that they will be able to enjoy it for a long time as Xbox and Microsoft have no plans of launching another console in just a few more years.

"I don't have this desire to every two years have a new console on the shelf," Spencer said. "That's not part of the console business model, and it doesn't actually help us. The best customer I have is somebody who buys the original Xbox and just buys all the games," he went on to say.

He went on the record to claim the Xbox Scorpio is going to be the most powerful console made at the time of its release. A report from Polygon supports this claim as it delves into the specs of both consoles and reveals that the Xbox Scorpio is 43 percent more powerful than the PS4 Pro.

The Xbox Scorpio is also going to be VR capable, but Spencer did reveal that this is not going to be the main draw for the console.

In a report from Forbes, Spencer explains that VR technology is appealing and that it will be supported on the Xbox Scorpio, but for the time being, he considered VR gaming to be in an early, experimental state. Because of this, it will not be the main focus of the Xbox Scorpio, at least not until developers have properly figured out how to make engaging AAA titles with the technology.
