Death of Yassin Rekindles Historical Fury between Israel and Palestinian
The recent assassination of Sheikh Yassin, the spiritual leader of one of the largest Palestinian and most militant group against Israelis, has stirred up anger in Palestine. Yassin was killed by a direct hit from a missile fired from an Israeli helicopter.
In the Yassin’s funeral, all the Palestinians are united and the Yassin’s group Hamas has declared their revenge to Israel. The eyes of many burned with tears of rage as they chanted slogans like "death to Israel" and "death to America".
"By Allah, we swear that the reprisals will come soon in the heart of Israel,?they shouted.
Israeli security services are on high alert after Hamas vowed to avenge its leader's death. Israeli Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz said their policy of "liquidating terrorists" would continue.
Israel’s actions towards Palestinians are criticized by leaders worldwide. United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan said it was not only against international law, but did nothing to help find a peaceful solution.
British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, the European Union's foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak also criticized Ireal.
However, actions like Israel's have been one of the most usual security defenses, even though the use of violence hurts the innocent,
Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak said the Israeli government had been left with no choice but to respond to the "murderous acts on the record of this so-called spiritual leader."
"He's personally involved in directing killings of women, children and innocent citizens in the streets of Israel,?he said.
Hamas has killed hundreds of Israelis in attacks since it was founded in 1987. Hamas' desire is to destroy the Jewish state and set up an Islamic one instead of it.
The issue reminded us about the history of Israel, a place of turbulence. Before 1947, British controlled over the Palestine land. Later, since Jewish people of Israel return to their motherland after centuries of persecution around the world in 1948, the state of Israel has declared.
However, it had not brought peace or security because their neighboring countries had sought to wipe their country off the map. The struggle between the Islamic Palestinian and Jewish Israelis is known to be one of the most enduring confrontations.
Now Worldwide leaders are all now in high alert in the midst of terrorism.
