First NGO Established in Saudi Arabia Marks Starting Point for Religious Liberty
A piece of good news was received from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The first human rights Non-Governmental Organization in the nation is now established under the approval of King Fahd bin Abd al-Aziz.
Corresponding to this event, Mervyn Thomas, Chief Executive of Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) expressed his welcome.
“This is a step towards a greater respect for human rights in the Kingdom. We hope this will open the way for further measures to safeguard the rights of all its citizens,?he said.
CSW also tries it best to promote the freedom of all people resident in the Kingdom to worship according to their religion, as publicly guaranteed by senior Saudi officials.
CWS sees there are possibilities in ratifying the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Cultural and Social Rights in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the very first new way of religious liberty has already opened.
