'13 Reasons Why' season 2 spoilers: Katherine Langford teases a 'very different' Hannah next season

Despite Hannah Baker's untimely death last season, Katherine Langford will be back as the troubled teenager in "13 Reasons Why" season 2. However, fans should expect to see her character in a different light.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about her return in the series' sophomore run, Langford said, "You see a very different Hannah in season 2. I would prepare fans not to expect the Hannah from season 1 for a multitude of reasons."

Unlike the first season that was told entirely from Hannah's perspective, season 2 would have the liberty to explore things from new angles. This time, the characters that she talked about on her cassette tapes will give their takes on the events that happened prior to her death, and fans will finally see how different and complicated their viewpoints are from Hannah's.

"This season we get to explore a lot more of the other characters and their journeys, which I'm excited about," she teased. It will also delve more into the grieving process and the aftermath of trauma. "As sad as it is, there is life after Hannah, and this season we get to see the effects it had on the people around her a lot more."

Hannah's peers were indeed greatly affected by her death, and when the pilot run ended, most of them were still grappling with their feelings. Fans can expect the new season to detail everyone's journey to recovery especially for Clay (Dylan Minnette) and Hannah's parents who have the most healing to do. It should also resolve the multiple cliffhangers from the finale including Alex's (Miles Heizer) condition, Jessica's (Alisha Boe) rape confession, and the Bakers' ongoing lawsuit against the school, among others.

"13 Reasons Why" has just wrapped filming for season 2. Picking up a few months after the events of the first run, it will still feature multiple timelines and a voice-over every episode. While Langford will no longer be the one doing the narration, it seems she will still be a very present force in the series. Not for long, though. The actress hinted she may no longer be around after this season, saying she feels the new episodes are "about letting Hannah go."

Netflix has not announced an exact release date for the second season yet, but it is expected to arrive sometime in 2018.
