Popular Netflix series "13 Reasons Why" will be getting a second season in the near future.

"13 Reasons Why," which is based on the novel of the same title, focused on the recently deceased Hannah Baker. After taking her own life, Hannah sends 13 tapes to the 13 people who were supposedly responsible for her death. As her schoolmates pass the tapes from person to person, Hannah's old flame Clay Jensen decides to avenge her and take matters into his own hands.

Season 1 of the series ended with Clay getting a confession from Bryce — one of the people responsible for Hannah's death — and handing the tapes to Hannah's bereaving parents.

The novel on which the series is based is not meant to have a sequel, so it came as a bit of a surprise when a second season for the TV show was announced. The upcoming series no longer focuses on Hannah but on the aftermath of her death and how both Clay and the rest of her classmates are coping with the events of the first season.

According to Refinery29, Dylan Minette, who plays Clay's character, revealed that the second season would take place after a short time skip. Some time has already passed since the events of season 1, but the bad memories are still relatively fresh and Clay is still grieving the loss of his friend and romantic interest Hannah Baker.

Katherine Langford (the actor who plays Hannah) told Entertainment Weekly that fans ought to expect a very different Hannah in season 2, which leads to the question — what exactly will season 2 be about? Hannah died in the first season of the TV series, so Langford's remark could mean that the sequel will either show glimpses of the past, or allow the viewers to see more of Hannah's life through the eyes of Clay or a new protagonist.

Entertainment Weekly also mentioned that the second season will shed some light on Jessica's recovery, and the journeys of the characters from the first season. Aside from that, not much else has been revealed. According to US Magazine, season 2 will reportedly deal with a handful of sensitive and taboo topics, most likely a follow up on the topics brought up in the show's first season.
