Speculations suggest that Samsung will be expanding its mid-range lineups this year. Aside from refreshing and releasing 2016 editions of its existing mid-range series, a new Galaxy C- handset has been spotted online.

SamMobile mentioned that Samsung may be close to revealing the new Galaxy C-series lineup, since one of the iterations, the Galaxy C7, has been spotted in the GFXBench website. Being a benchmark testing site, the list on the new Galaxy lineup addition exposed the specs sheet of the device, apparently confirming that the Galaxy C-series is Samsung's new mid-range lineup.

In the benchmark listing, the Galaxy C7 has been showcased as having an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, paired with 3.5 GB of RAM. It has a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1020 resolution. Other listed specs include a 16-MP main camera at the back and an 8-MP selfie snapper; 32 GB of internal storage, expected to be expandable via microSD support; and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow right out of the box.

According to the industry follower, while Samsung has yet to confirm details on the new lineup, it is plausible that the Galaxy C-series will be released first in China by next month, before allowing the new lineup to roll out to global markets. This is what the South Korea-based tech giant did with other mid-range series, particularly the 2016 Galaxy A- lineup.

However, it can remain as an exclusive lineup to China, said GSM Arena, particularly since there already are 2016 editions of other mid-range lineups that are available as global releases. As for its pricing, the industry observer said it is hinted in a Zauba listing that the Galaxy C7 may cost around $200 when it releases.

The Galaxy C7 is only one of the planned iterations in the lineup. Previously, supposed leaks have already pointed out that there is also a Galaxy C5 in the works, which is a smaller counterpart of the Galaxy C7 as it only has a 5.2-inch display.
