As reported by Car and Driver, the 2017 Subaru BRZ is seeing a major facelift, which includes a new design, more power, the new Performance package and altered suspension tuning. In regards to its release, the car is expected to come out this coming September, although the variant with the Performance package isn't due until 2017.

The 2017 Subaru BRZ will come with a new shared 2.0-liter flat-four engine that increases airflow while also reducing the amount of friction it suffers. This will allow it to reach a total 205 horsepower and 156 foot-pound of torque. It will come with both an updated six-speed manual transmission and optional automatic transmission.

Suspension updates, as reported by Auto Blog, include a new set of dampers and springs and a bigger rear sway bar. The car is also slightly more rigid with some of the internal adjustments but nothing too dramatic to significantly alter how it performs when on the road. Stability control has been readjusted to give drivers more freedom behind the wheel.

The Performance Package is the biggest new option and this feature, which is only available in early 2017 and will not be included in vehicles launching this September, comes with better brakes, better shocks and also with 17-inch wheels. It is also only applicable to the Limited trim with manual transmission.

LED lights have been added on all four corners of the vehicle and the Limited trim will also come with a 4.2-inch LCD display that sits above the tachometer. This display showcases all the required information when driving such as oil temperature, water temperature, battery voltage and a new G meter, stopwatch and others.

According to the report, the 2017 Subaru BRZ Premium as well as the Limited trims will be available this coming September and is expected to come with a Suggested Retail Price starting at $26,000. As mentioned, the version of the car that comes with the Performance Package will not launch until early 2017.
