Apple's iPhones are getting better each year, but one thing that has remained stagnant over the years is its battery life. However, 2018 may finally see some improvement in that department.

A new report from respected KGI Security analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the next trio of iPhones will sport larger L-shaped batteries inside. It is said this could put the battery capacity somewhere between 2,900 mAh and 3,000 mAh.

The iPhone X only packs 2,716 mAh of power, so there should be a 10 percent boost in capacity. This may not seem like a lot, but to put that into perspective, the publication says it could bring an extra hour or two to the battery life as a whole.

There will be even more battery life from the expected larger iPhone. The 6.5-inch OLED handset is said to house a two-cell design with a capacity between 3,300 mAh and 3,400. On the flip side of the coin, the third 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will not get the new battery technology, but will take advantage of some of Apple's battery improvements to reach a new capacity of up to 2,950 mAh.

Of course, these are mere predictions, so they should be taken with a grain of salt; although Kuo does have a strong track record in predicting Apple's plans and unannounced products. He accurately predicted the iPhone X's 5.8-inch display, glass and stainless design, 3D sensing, lack of Touch ID, and several other features ahead of the premium's device.

News of three iPhones coming next year also comes from him. As reported previously, apart from releasing two OLED iPhones, he claimed Apple will also offer an LCD variant that could cost $649 to $749 for low-end and midend markets.

All of them will reportedly come with iPhone X's flagship features, including the full-screen notched design and TrueDepth camera system. Kuo also said the next-gen smartphones would support Face ID across the board.
