Chevrolet has finally unveiled the 2019 Silverado. Overhauled and reengineered for the nameplate's 100th year in the market, the all-new full-size pickup truck comes with a modern design as well as more options to meet the needs of consumers.

Design-wise, the latest iteration of Chevrolet's best-selling pickup truck features a modern design and a more aerodynamic body. The front grille comes with functional air curtains that reduce aerodynamic drag while a strong profile and an integrated spoiler at the rear help reduce wing drag from the bed.

The 2019 Silverado is also built on a new platform. The wheelbase has been extended by 3.9 inches and the overall length has grown by 1.6 inches. This translates to more passenger space and increased cargo capacity.

Despite larger dimensions, the all-new pickup truck is 450 pounds lighter than its predecessor. Chevrolet was able to save weight by using a fully boxed steel frame that is 88 pounds lighter but 10 percent more rigidity. The 2019 Silverado also uses aluminum for the doors, hood and tailgate while the fenders roof and bed make use of steel. The use of mixed materials also help reduce the weight of the pickup truck's all-new suspension.

The 2019 Silverado is available with six different engine and transmission combinations, including 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 engines and a new 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo-diesel. The latter two powertrains are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with start/stop technology.

The all-new pickup truck is available in eight trims. The base Work Truck comes with a blacked out trim, 17-inch wheels, a 7-inch infotainment system and vinyl or cloth seats. It is followed by Custom, which features a body-color theme, 20-inch painted aluminum wheels and LED signature taillamps.

Custom Trailboss, which is a new option for the 2019 model year, adds off-road components including a 2-inch suspension lift as well as the Z71 Off Road Package. The package brings with it a locking rear differential, skid plates, Rancho shocks, 18-inch wheels and Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires.

The 2019 Silverado is also offered with the LT trim, which includes chrome exterior accents, a Chevrolet bowtie in the grille, LED reflector headlamps, signature daytime running lights and an 8-inch infotainment system.

The RST trim, a new high-volume option, features a body-color trim, LED foglamps, headlamps and taillamps, as well as 22-inch all-season tires. LT Trailboss, which is also new, adds off-road components such as a 2-inch suspension lift and the Z71 Off Road Package.

As for the high-feature trims, the LTZ comes standard with chrome accents, power folding and heated outside rearview mirrors, as well as a leather interior trim. The range-topping High Country, meanwhile, features an exclusive front grille with a two-tone chrome and bronze finish, body-color accents, chrome assist steps and a power up/down tailgate.
