Hyundai has finally taken the wraps off the 2019 Veloster. For its second generation, the compact hatchback will have three models — Veloster, Veloster Turbo and the high-performance variant Veloster N.

The 2019 Veloster has been thoroughly redesigned inside and out. Enhanced proportions translate to dimensions that are 0.8 inches longer and 0.4 inches wider. Headroom was also increased by 0.6 inches. The A-pillars were pushed further rearward to have a longer hood.

The front fascia features LED headlights and daytime running lights, Kia's signature cascade grille and functional air curtains. The 2019 Veloster also has a dynamic silhouette with a coupe-like roofline and flared wheel arches. As for the rear, the liftgate is now located at near the wiper housing and the center chrome exhaust pipes have been made wider.

Despite these enhancements, the 2019 Veloster still maintains its quirky appearance with an asymmetrical door configuration — one on the driver's side and two on the other. This provides for easier rear-seat access.

The 2019 Veloster is available with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain is mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The Veloster Turbo, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that yields 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. It is available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

As for the second-generation hatchback's high-performance model, Veloster N, it is powered by a larger 2.0-liter direct-injected turbocharged engine that delivers 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

To differentiate itself from the other models, the Veloster N features an exclusive front fascia and grille design as well as dedicated front air ducts, rocker side sills a larger rear spoiler and 19-inch alloy wheels. It also comes with N-design cloth seats, steering wheel, shift knob, door sill plates and instrument cluster.

The 2019 Hyundai Veloster and Veloster Turbo will go on sale in the second quarter of 2018. Meanwhile, the 2019 Veloster N will arrive in the fourth quarter.
