222 Golden Retrievers gathered with their owners at a festival in Scotland last month.

The golden retrievers met at the breed's ancestral home at Guisachan House to celebrate at the place where they were first bred in the mid 1800s by a man named Dudley Coutts Marjoribanks.

The festival was run by the Golden Retriever Club of Scotland and the dogs took part in a game of tug-of-war, hurling, and of course, a dog show.

A celebration for the Golden Retriever Club's golden anniversary was first held in 2006, to commemorate 50 years of existence. At the time, 188 Golden Retrievers had gathered.

The Golden Retriever is a medium to large sized breed of dog, which were bred as gundogs to retrieve shot waterfowl such as ducks and birds during hunting parties. They were named retriever for their ability to retrieve the game undamaged. Golden Retrievers are the third most popular family dog breed in the United States.
