FOX Network is seriously considering bringing "24" back to the small screen next season, but it might undergo a major facelift.

During the TCA Winter Press Tour held on Jan. 13, Gary Newman, the Chairman and CEO  of Fox Television, indicated that they might bring back the long-running action-packed espionage thriller.

"We would love nothing more than to do another '24.' That's a constant focus for us," Newman shared.

However, "24" lead star Kiefer Sutherland may not reprise his role as Jack Bauer if the series will indeed return for another season. FOX Chairman and CEO Dana Walden mentioned that the actor is not keen on returning if they will bring the series back to TV screens.

"We have discussed it with him. We talk to Kiefer all the time. He's a great creative partner, potentially he won't be in this installment. We're not sure yet. We're not that far along, but I know he supports us doing more '24'," Walden shared.

The series, which ran consecutively from 2001 up to 2010, was rebooted in 2014 for a single 12-episode season dubbed as "Live Another Day." Sutherland also earlier stated that the current "Live Another Day" will be Jack Bauer's farewell season, and he believes that the character cannot go further than that.

Walden is not worried about the future of the show if Sutherland will not return. According to her, "24's" format alone is enough to make the viewers glued on their screens.

"I think great characters with that creative team ... I look at everyone that surrounded Kiefer in that last installment — I think it could work," she said.

Aside from "24," the entertainment channel is also planning on rebooting other fan-favorite series, including "The X Files," which could also bring back Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny on TV. Rumors are also speculating that Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will reprise their roles in "Prison Break."
