We all go through a time of mourning in our lives. It could be the loss of a loved one, the heart-wrenching separation from a friend so dearly loved, or even the staggering defeat in a game that you strenuously prepared for.

Yes, we all mourn at some point in our lives.

Mourning is not a bad thing when it is done for the right reasons. Moreover, when there's a good reason to mourn, we shouldn't refrain from mourning. Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that it's just how life should be sometimes:

"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to gain, and a time to lose; A time to keep, and a time to throw away; A time to tear, and a time to sew; A time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; A time of war, and a time of peace." (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

Be that as it may, we cannot deny the fact that when we are mourning it is because we are in pain. We are at a loss, and we are grieving over our loss. It's just a sad time in our lives.

Are you in a time of mourning right now and hoping to find some comfort? Here are some Bible verses that will give you the comfort that you need.

Christ's suffering heals us from our pain -- Isaiah 53:4-5

"Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."

God's Spirit intercedes for us when we don't know what to pray -- Romans 8:26-28

"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

God hears our cries and is near when we are broken -- Psalm 34:17-19

"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all."
