When times of crisis come, all who believe in Christ and take refuge in God are assured of victory. Though the circumstances may seem bleak, the resources scarce, and the options too few, the truth is that with God we can overcome anything.

Because of God, we can overcome any crisis. Our battle cry should be Philippians 4:13, which says:

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Overcoming any crisis

Friends, this article does not, in any way, intend to belittle any struggle that any one of us faces. Many of us are facing very difficult situations, some of them traumatic, life-changing or debilitating in intensity. Each and every circumstance that we face is acknowledged and its effects on our emotions and quality of life recognized.

What this article hopes to do is to encourage every believer. Friends, we can all face any circumstance without any fear because in Christ, we are assured victory. We can all overcome any crisis because He has overcome.

But how do Christians overcome any crisis, really? Here are a few ways how.

1) We now live in Christ's victory

Oftentimes, we people give up in the face of crisis because of the turmoil and the chaos going on in our minds and our circumstances. We worry about what will happen, how we will be able to face the crisis, and if we can ever make it through. These things cause us to fret and even give up.

Christ's victory, however, assures us that no matter what we face, He has already won for us. Speaking to His disciples about the troubles they would face in following Him, the Lord Jesus said:

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)

The truth is that we are now living in Christ's victory. No matter what happens, we've already won. All we need to do is to live it out.

2) We have peace that passes understanding

For sure, we will all face hardship too, as we follow Christ. God, however, promises to let His peace guard our hearts.

We know that Christ has already overcome. The thing is, we forget that at times. We tend to focus on the things that are happening right before our very eyes and our very ears. We see and hear of troubling times, and we start to grow weary with worry. Philippians 4:6-7, however, assures us that God's peace is available to us when we come to Him:

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

3) We have the Spirit of God living in us

God's Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, lives in all of us who believe in Christ Jesus. If the Spirit that raised Christ from the grave to overcome death lives in us, just think of the hope that we ought to have even in the face of dire circumstances!

Best of all, the Holy Spirit of God gives us a help that only He can do. Romans 8:26-27 tells us,

"Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

The Holy Spirit helps us by interceding for us when we pray "with groaning which cannot be uttered," or what we call the gift of "tongues." When He prays for us, His prayers will be answered, because it's always according to the will of God.
