Several weeks back, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" director Zack Snyder revealed in an interview with Bloomberg that he wants to make a film about President George Washington and the Revolutionary army in the style of "300." It has now been revealed that this format may extend to other films that will serve as pseudo-sequels to "300."

"300," which was released in 2007 and based on Frank Miller's graphic novel of the same name, did have a sequel with the 2014 film "300: Rise of an Empire" but it was directed by Noam Murro instead of Snyder. Speaking to Collider, Snyder revealed that there are plans for more sequels but they won't necessarily be set in Ancient Greece.

Instead, Snyder revealed that the idea is to use the original "300" as a framing device and then move through history.

"I think I mentioned that we talked about the Revolutionary War version, and we talked about the Alamo, and we've talked about there's a battle in China, a 'Lost Legion' kind of concept, any of those kinds of things are on the table," the director said.

As pointed out in a report by Cinema Blend, this would make any future film more akin to a spiritual successor made in the same style more than a direct sequel. It is also pointed out that this has been done before, with some level of success, such as the recent "10 Cloverfield Lane," which is barely connected to the original "Cloverfield."

All of the aforementioned scenarios also have a distinct similarity: they all focus on a tale of a small, outmatched group facing impossible odds as another, stronger force attacks. This falls in line perfectly with the theme of the original "300," although Collider points out that there are many other great battles from Ancient Greece that could also work in a similar fashion. 

Zack Snyder's next film, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will open in theaters on March 25.
