5 Bible verses to read when the clock strikes twelve on New Year's Eve
It's always a good thing to start all endeavors with the Lord. Whether it's starting a family, entering a new career, starting a new business, or planting a church, the Lord God has to be there at the helm of it all.
That said, wouldn't it be a great idea to let God sit at the helm once the New Year comes? Yes, we will all do well to seek God as the year closes and the new year begins. After all, His plans for us are good, pleasing, and perfect, and we won't go wrong by following Him and doing what He wants.
To help us do just that, here are some Bible verses that we should read when the clock strikes twelve on New Year's Eve.
Living right - Psalm 119:9-16
"How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word."
Facing the New Year with boldness and direction - Joshua 1:7-9
"Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
Seeking God above our personal needs - Matthew 6:31-33
"Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
Following Christ - Matthew 16:24-26
"Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"
Our life's work and mission - Matthew 28:18-20
"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen."
