The trailer for the new season of Netflix's hit show "A Series of Unfortunate Events" has dropped, leaving many fans excited and somewhat bewildered.

The streaming-based show promised its loyal viewers a new round of extreme madness and treacherous villainy with Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) breaking the fourth wall and going into the juicy bits.

"There's more villainous treachery, more treacherous villains, angry villagers, unwanted elective surgeries, man-eating lions, more violence, fire, and despair — which will really be quite dreadful," Harris gleefully teased while in-character.

The new series will be based on the fifth to the ninth book of Daniel Handler's (Lemony Snicket) best-selling book series of the same name.

The new season will feature events on "The Austere Academy," "The Ersatz Elevator," "The Vile Village," "The Hostile Hospital," and "The Carnivorous Carnival," Variety noted.

Handler admitted in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, that he and other writers of the series have begun work on the series' second adaptation and are on a rush for the third season.

"I am deep in season 2. I've been working in my own dining room with a team of writers I'm really loving on the next season, and we hope to get the go-ahead to do season 3, which... given how quickly young actors age and change, we're trying to film everything as quickly as possible," the acclaimed book author explained.

This next installation will bear witness to the return of series' mainstays Harris, Violet Baudelaire (Malina Weissman), and Klaus Baudelaire (Louis Hynes).

The first iteration of the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" franchise was showered with positive reviews largely due to its diligence in accuracy, closely following every detail in the books.

Netflix announced that the much-anticipated comeback of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" will drop on its streaming service on March 30.
