Electronic Arts' (EA) latest offering in the action genre "A Way Out" is due for an early release this summer, packing a new and distinct approach to co-op gaming that players have yet to see before.

The new game in EA's large action-driven selection will see users team up in a new gameplay style designed specifically for a multiplayer experience.

EA Games defines "A Way Out" as a game that heavily adopts a co-op centric gameplay from the start to the end.

Players are required to form a team of two in order to continue the story in-game. Users can also choose whether to play online or play while in proximity to each other.

Aside from this, EA announced during the Game Awards 2017 that it will enable a free "friends pass" trial for the game.

Hazelight founder Josef Fares said in a statement: "We developed the game to be experienced with a friend on the couch, but since that isn't possible for everyone, those who download the friend's pass free-trial will be able to play the entire game online with a friend who owns the full game and still get an awesome experience."

According to reports, the game ultimately foregoes the single-player mode. And every aspect of the game is set on a two-player setting that includes game locations, in-game encounters, and character dialogues.

But despite its unique co-op game play, it is said that "A Way Out" is not available for cross-platform gaming.

"A Way Out" is currently slated to drop on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC March 23 of this year. It tells the story of two convicted brothers, Leo and Vincent, teaming up together to escape from the clutches of the law.

It is currently available for pre-order on EA's official website
