Acer remodels Chromebook 11 to be showcased at CES; gives it fanless design and USB-C port

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada will showcase a lot of new products this year. One of those is Acer's remodel of their Chromebook 11.

One of the defining features of this new version of the Chromebook 11 is the Universal Serial Bus (USB) 3.1 Type-C port.

This is the first time that Acer's Chromebook 11 will have such connectivity, and the computer will have two of these ports. This is of course in addition to the two USB 3.0 ports already featured in the previous version of the model.

In addition, Acer's Chromebook 11 will feature a fanless design. This means that the computer will operate quietly— it can be a brought to places where silence is important (like libraries and some coffee shops). This feature is complemented by its lightness as it only weighs 2.43 pounds.

The Chromebook 11 comes with two display options: touch and non-touch. The touch version is designated with model number C311-8HT while the non-touch version is C311-8H.

As expected of Chromebooks, both models will also be able to run Android apps. The battery life is decent, as well. The notebook can operate for 10 hours straight on a single full charge.

Like most other computers in Acer's line of Chromebooks, Chromebook 11 is run by an Intel Celeron processor. However, its random access memory (RAM) and storage space options are a bit limited.

RAM can be either 2 GB or 4 GB, while storage space can be 16 GB or 32 GB.

The only real weak point of Acer's Chromebook 11 is its display. It has an 11.6-inch screen with a maximum optimal resolution of 1366x768 pixels, which is pretty low consiering today's high-definition (HD) standards.

In any case, the Chromebook 11 will be available in March (although it will be showcased at CES 2018 first). It is expected to cost $249, and the price may go up depending on the additional options that the user chooses.
