Acer beats Apple in packing Intel's upcoming Broadwell chipset. Acer announced the largest Chromebook yet — Chromebook 15 — sporting a 15.6-inch screen display.

Mobile manufacturer Acer went ahead of the 2015 Consumers Electronics Show and took the wraps off the new Chromebook laptop. The device's 15.6-inch screen panel offers Full HD resolution and wide viewing angles plus an anti-glare coating feature.

It also comes with the latest generation Intel processor. Intel's Broadwell chipset is reported to be better than the previous Haswell processor as it is 30 percent more efficient while using a third of the device's power. The Broadwell processor offers better performance while having the same clock speed.

A lot of people have been expecting to see Intel's newest processor in Apple's MacBook Air, said to have been purposely delayed so the company can equip it with the Broadwell chip, which is coming early this year. But before the new MacBook had a chance to see the light of the day, Acer already beat Apple to the punch and introduced a powerful laptop.

Other features of the Chromebook 15 are 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, and an SD card reader.

There will also be other versions of the Chromebooks with lower specs and features. The lowest Chromebook model will sport a 1366 x 768 display resolution paired with Intel Core i3 processor.

One of the advantages of Chromebooks is its affordable pricing, which will start at $249 for the 1366 x 768 version with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB storage. Acer has not revealed the pricing for the other models with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB storage.

Chromebooks are slowly gaining popularity as the Chrome OS is invading the scene and is continuously expanding. Thus, there is a big possibility that more Chromebooks will appear in the market that will compete with the big players.
