"The Addams Family" refuses to die, as the animated adaptation for the spooky monster family has been confirmed and will have Conrad Vernon as its director.

Conrad Vernon is perhaps best known for co-directing the hit adult animated comedy film "Sausage Party" and is himself a veteran animation artist, writer, director, and voice artist. The animated film for "The Addams Family" is being spearheaded by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) Studios Inc.

Vernon, for those who are worrying about the director's family-friendly reputation, is also no stranger to family comedy movies, as he has been involved in top animated comedies like "Shrek 2" and "Monsters vs. Aliens" as co-director. Fans of the macabre family need not worry as rest assured; the franchise is seemingly in good hands.

Cartoon Brew even described Vernon's involvement in the animated reboot as a "silver lining," taking note of the latter's expertise in several animated features, as well as his interest in other cartoon reboots.

Other creative staff for the upcoming animated reboot include the following: "Corpse Bride" and "Monster House" writer Pamela Pettler, who will be responsible for the screenplay; Andrew Mittman and Kevin Miserocchi, who will serve as executive producers; and MGM Executive Director Tabitha Shick, who will be overseeing the project and its developments.

The movie is expected to feature all the family members, both living and undead, starting with parents Gomez and Morticia, their children Wednesday and Pugsley, the caring but sinister Uncle Fester, the sentient pile of hair Cousin Itt, and the undead and conscious disembodied hand, which the family named "Thing."

The family's last foray in the big screen was back in the '90s when "The Addams Family," a live-action supernatural dark comedy film, was released on 1991 to good commercial reception. The first film centered around the exploits of the family with a man named Gordon, only to find out that he was Uncle Fester all along. Two years later in 1993, a sequel was released named "Addams Family Values," and it followed the story of Uncle Fester and his gold-digger wife's plans to ruin the family. The second film, despite being a commercial flop, was well received.

No exact release date or title yet has been announced for the upcoming Addams Family animated reboot, but rest assured, it is now currently in the works.
