Those who are longing for the much-awaited Lightroom update are now rejoicing as Adobe already released the next upgrade for the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom photo editor software.

Dubbed as Lightroom CC for those under the Adobe Creative Cloud plan, subscribers can now take advantage of the next update to the photo editor software, with the latest version full of performance tweaks and new features.

Perhaps the biggest addition to the features of the new Lightroom is the HDR merge and Panorama merge. In these, the tools let photographers and image editors stitch together a much larger DNG composite from various images. The toll also has a facial recognition option that makes it easier to find familiar faces in photos.

Aside from the new merge tools, the new Lightroom also improves slideshow creation by adding more effects, and a more autonomic sound sync option. Additionally, there are added brushes for more precise editing through filter masks.

In terms of performance tweaks, Adobe promises Lightroom to be effective whatever the version of the GPU is, especially to Mac users. The new Lightroom is compatible for use on both the older MacBooks and brand-new Macs with Retina displays.

The new Lightroom is also made available for Android tablets. As part of the Creative Cloud Photography Plan by Adobe, the expansion of the new version of the photo editor outside of the iOS is a way of integrating Adobe's plan into the mainstream.

"We see the connected workflow as the future of photography,"Adobe's Sharad Mangalick, digital imaging product manager, said in an interview with The Next Web. "You need your photos everywhere you are so you can do meaningful work on them, not just for sending across networks. We see Creative Cloud as the empowering technology that lets us do that."
