Brooke Lyons is joining "The Affair" season 2 as Noah's publicist Eden who, as the show progresses, will be more to the struggling novelist than just what her job description says. Noah will get too close for comfort to Eden, which will give Alison another reason to worry.

According to VC Post, the show has been hinting that Noah and Alison's relationship is doomed to end. With Lyons' character in the picture, this is becoming more and more tangible. But compared to what Cole can do, Eden doesn't look much of a threat.

In a preview for season 2, Cole is looking to pull the trigger on Noah. As the latter gets out of a taxi, the former looks at him from afar. There, Alison's husband points his finger at his wife's lover as if it were a gun, "shooting" him. If this is anything to go by, the school teacher is in grave danger.

Even Ruth Wilson, who plays Alison, knows that her character and Noah are unlikely to get a happy ending.

"The way the series is panning out, probably not. I mean, this has got to create drama for an audience so, no, they're not going to be that happy, but you hope they would," the actress told Deadline. "I think they have their own issues, despite what happens at the end. The second season is about the consequences, where the first was the about the sin, [executive producer] Sarah [Treem] says. The third season is the redemption."

If Cole is getting a real gun soon to get rid of Noah for real, then the "consequences" Wilson is talking about will potentially include someone physically getting hurt.

"The Affair" season 2 will premiere on Oct. 4.
