African & Caribbean Evangelical Alliance Honours Contributors to Christian Community

The African and Caribbean Evangelical Alliance has released the 21 names of its Role of Honour 2005. The list comes as part of the 21st Anniversary celebrations, and aims to mark out the achievements of those who have made particularly outstanding contributions towards the Christian community.

|PIC1|The ACEA 21st anniversary took place at Jesus House in north London on Nov. 26th, and included in the list of those honoured were: Matthew Ashimolowo (Kingsway International Christian Centre) and Bishop Melville Powell for their contribution to leadership, Reverend Les Isaac for evangelism, Marcia Dixon (The Voice Newspaper) for her work within the media and Bishop Kwaku Frimpong-Manson (Community Reconciliation) for his community work.

The ACEA was established in 1984 as a national umbrella organisation for Black majority churches and organisations in the UK, and has kept at the corner stone of its commission, the will to serve the entire community and to build trust between the many varied groups in the UK society.

Premier Radio, who sponsored the Roll of Honour, had David Heron co-presenting the awards on the night, and he said, “It is a tremendous privilege to have sponsored ACEA’s Roll of Honour 2005. Premier takes great pride in promoting the ministries of Christian leaders such as the 21 honoured, who have such a great and positive impact on the Christian community.”

Worship and praise were offered up in abundance on the night, with artists such as Muyiwa (Riversongs), GEM award winners Freddie Kofi, Adelaide Mackenzie and renowned praise & worship leader Noel Robinson leading the attendants in creating a powerful and spiritual atmosphere.

|PIC2|A tribute was also given to the ACEA founder, Philip Mohabir, with every member gathered remembering his life and works.

The Chief Executive of the ACEA, Rev Katei Kirby commented on the anniversary: “To be able to celebrate our 21 years of service to the Christian community is a testament to the legacy of those who have both led ACEA and engaged with ACEA during that time.

“We are embracing the new day of opportunity to support, enrich, challenge and equip the Church to be stronger together. At the heart of our mission and vision is the deep commitment to promoting unity, reconciliation and understanding among all Christians in the UK. And after 21 years we are still committed to that.”

The event also saw fund-raising taking place for the continued growth and development of the ACEA, and donations were still being received weeks after the event. If you would like to donate to this ministry please contact the ACEA directly on acea@eauk.org
