African Leadership Conference held by Salvation Army

The Salvation Army recently held its African Heritage and Youth Conference at the Continuing Education Centre at the College for Officer Training in Atlanta, USA. Approximately 125 delegates from around the Southern Territory of the USA Salvation Army attended the conference.

It was directed by the Southern Territorial Mission Growth and Multicultural Ministries Department, reported the Army's Website for the Southern Territory.

The statement of purpose and conference goals were:

- To promote and strengthen solidarity among Salvationists of African heritage and unity among all Salvationists.

- To encourage and enhance the development of leadership skills

- To reaffirm the Salvation Army's commitment to qualitative and quantitative growth.

- To educated/expose African heritage youth to the mission and ministry opportunities available in The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army organisation was in fact established in London in the 1800's and since then has grown into an international movement of individuals who aim to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to reach out to human needs in His name without discrimination.
